Dears open space lovers and friends, three weeks ago at the end of a planning meeting with a new client and by the end of the meeting the leader told me that I had facilitated an Open Space with her 20 years ago! That was such a fun coincidence. It was her first Open Space meeting. She told me how positively tripped up she and her friends were by the Open Space principles and couldn't stop giggling quoting them on their drive home. They laughed so hard that they nearly had an accident. But even then they said “Whatever happens is the only thing that could have” and kept laughing. She confirmed how life-changing the Open Space principles have been for her ever since.
It was the second Open Space Technology meeting I facilitated in my life. I was only twenty years old. Today I am still as hooked by the methodology as back then. By now I have facilitated countless open space meetings and learned a lot, especially about how to introduce Open Space in organizations to enable a new culture of communication and collaboration which is so needed in these pressure-cooker-silo-work times. I am sharing this with you because I wish you can also benefit from learning Open Space Technology!
