Thanks so very much for your collaboration, sharing time and ideas. I am very grateful. 😊

Thursday we'll continue a “Careful Review” discussion of our last email (see below), where we explored the topic of Racing the Value of Learning. In this post, we dig into Geoff Thomas's essay, where he presents a compelling case for the “Why” aspect.

To get a better understanding prior to Thursday's meeting, let's review the section:
RVL Project Aims and Objectives,
focusing on these seven elements: đŸ€”

a) To explore new ways of building learning networks to assist the development of a learning culture within wider regeneration strategies.

b) To move away from unilateral learning services to two-way transactions that generate reciprocity and empower ‘people in communities’ to become active contributors to the learning process.

c) To test an innovative approach to learning in a disadvantaged community by introducing learning time credits that facilitates the engagement of peoples’ skills and talents for community benefit

d) To increase the capacity of people who are termed as’ socially excluded’ to play an active part in lifelong learning.

e) To test the principle that an active learning culture is founded on collective learning experiences that are shared in a community context.

f) To construct a new learning dialogue, the message being that “if you help build the collective capacity of your Learning Network, your Learning Network will help the development of your individual capacity”.

g) To design, promote and develop new frameworks of learning that encourage cooperation and reciprocity

I'm looking forward to our give and get learning exchange on these ideas at our Thursday Zoom chat.😂
Thanks again, in Solidarity,
Tony

Hello there,
Our weekly Zoom gatherings are a open space to chat about things that really matter. Join us as we dive into Raising the Value of Learning through Time Currency in Shared Activities, which works on the principle that one hour of “learning through doing” = one learning time credit.

1 - The meeting time will start at 2 pm EDT every Thursday of the month.

2 - We will follow Geoff Thomas's action guidelines taken from his Raising the Value of Learning essay. The purpose is to make our Learning Café more fun and productive;

Learning Time Credits can be acquired by:
1) Becoming involved in a learning support group, learning circle, or forum
2) Teaching or mentoring other learners
3) Recruiting learners to courses
4) Organizing learning events
5) Governance activities at learning centers
6) Peer tutoring

LTCs are exchangeable for social, educational, and cultural experiences.

During these sessions, we'll explore various initiatives to enhance our local economy and make a positive impact.
  1. Foster a culture of learning within regeneration efforts through innovative Learning Networks.
  2. Emphasize the reciprocal relationship between individual development and collective Learning Network growth.
  3. Shift from one-sided learning services to interactive exchanges that empower community members.
  4. Introduce learning time credits to engage community members in sharing skills for community benefit.
  5. Empower socially excluded individuals to participate in lifelong learning.
  6. Develop new learning frameworks that promote cooperation and mutual support.

Hope you can join us!

We'd love to hear from you and have you be part of our vibrant conversation!

Thanks for your interest and participation. To keep our community thriving, we have essential expenses like website hosting, domain names, and project applications. So, I am kindly asking for your support with a small donation. Your contribution makes a significant difference. Donate to our nonprofit host by visiting https://tbmw.org/donate/. I do appreciate your generosity and enthusiasm!

Thanks again, In Solidarity, Tony
