It seems much more sensible to me that bottom-up emergence and top-down divergence are poles of a continuum of trans-causal interaction. I would assume that there is also center-out and periphery-in interaction, as well as other kinds of harmonic chords of coincident entanglement/disentanglement. That the universe could be strictly bottom up causality is absurd to me - as absurd as the idea of letters of the alphabet learning to read, but at the same time, it makes perfect sense to me that every view of the universe, including the bottom-up emergentist view, is presented in its most coherent light when reflecting its most favorable attention. Every view of the universe can make a tremendous amount of sense, given genuine interest in it.
