My 2c....I seem to recall hearing that people exposed to higher than what is 
considered normal doses of radiation actually have improved tolerance and get 
less cancers etc, though I can't recall where I saw/read/heard it.

 

But that obviously doesn't include if any of the stuff gets into your body.

 

My point precisely. The external dosage is a very different set of occurrences 
with different consequences and outcomes than the internalization of 
radionuclides into living tissue – either through physical lodging of micro or 
nano scale particles into small recesses in the tissue or through bio-uptake 
actually becoming chemically incorporated into cellular tissue. Then DNA damage 
is virtually ensured.
