Have you read interviews with Max Tegmark on his mathematical universe hypothesis? I can't recall verbatim what he's said but you might find this issue is addressed. I'm sure the i/ver said "I don't feel like I'm a bunch of equations..." and Max said ... something.
But then if physics is true we *are *a bunch of equations, at least in some senses. And a cat is a bunch of particles, etc etc. That is, irrespective of what you think of comp, AUDA and all that, you need to take down the entirety of physics if you really want to get away from what you're calling "magical thinking" - quantum theory is magical thinking, if anything is, and the universe is perhaps queerer than we can imagine. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Everything List" group.
