The two don't really have to be exactly the same, just similar enough that one doesn't have a thought that the other does not. If an electron in a calcium atom in the fingernail of one is in a higher energy band than the other I'm not going to worry about it.

They will have different thoughts almost immediately, e.g. "I see a John Clark to my left." vs "I see a John Clark to my right."
