You don't provide any information such as what version of Evolution
you're using or what distribution of Linux you're using, but there's
also the separate package mail-notification which has an Evo plugin,
that will put a mail notifier icon in your system tray.

If you have Ubuntu you can use:

    sudo aptitude install mail-notification mail-notification-evolution

Note this is in the universe repository, I think.


Personally I think that integration with the Gnome panel system tray
should be a default capability in Evo, rather than requiring an add-on
package, but ...
