        Hi,
please run Evolution from console and do the restore. It'll show there
some messages which might explain what it doesn't like on your backup
file.

The last relevant change I see in this is in bug [1], but it's part of
2.28.0, thus it's either something else, or the change didn't cover all
cases. I tried to create a backup file in recently released 2.28.2 and I
can import it to Evolution without any error. Isn't is possible there is
no enough space on a drive you are doing a backup to?
