Hi :)
When i visit any of those links that i listed i get a page that lets me
download a Gnu&Linux version.

Often the versions in those links is different from the version that is in my
distro's repos.  Sometimes it gives me the same version but just not tweaked in
the way my distro's package maintainers have tweaked the version that is in the
repos.  In any case it means i can choose whether to get a version from
"upstream" or from my distros repos.  For most programs i stick to the repos
(and that is what i generally recommend to noobs) but some give me added
bonuses if i get them upstream.

Seriously, you are suggesting "talking to my distro"??  Perhaps at the same
time i could drop a quick note to Steve Bullmer and Billy Gates too and then MS
would be bound to drop Outlook in favour of Evolution.
Regards from
Tom :)

Ermm, so? All are projects also available for non-Linux platforms
(Microsoft Windows etc) which do not have software centers / app stores
included. Evolution is Linux/Unix only (Evolution's builds for Microsoft
Windows are ancient unmaintained non-working).

Evolution HAS had a download page for years at
http://projects.gnome.org/evolution/download.shtml and it clearly tells
you how to get Evolution. Again: I don't care about every single
distribution out there deliberately trying to make things harder for its
users. Bring it up to your distro if your distro wants to be different.

Cheers,
andre
