I feel the complete opposite. I would pretty to stick with applications that use GSettings/dconf vs. some mess of random configuration files - editing text files is not a solution for system management. GConf/GSettings/dconf were created to solve very real problems. As an application developer the last thing I want to spend time on is a framework for configuring my application. GSettings allows for overriding, lock-down, etc... all things that are a genuine nuisance to code custom. It also has notification - which isn't anything a stand- alone application is going to implement. I can also merrily take my configurations, reliably, from one account to another. <https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_ente rprise_linux/7/html/desktop_migration_and_administration_guide/custom- default-values-system-settings> Which is much better than tar-scp- untar+hope-n-pray. -- Meetings Coordinator, Michigan Association of Railroad Passengers 537 Shirley St NE Grand Rapids, MI 49503-1754 Phone: 616.581.8010 E-mail: [email protected] GPG#D95ED383 Web: http://www.marp.org _______________________________________________ evolution-list mailing list [email protected] To change your list options or unsubscribe, visit ... https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/evolution-list
