I've got evo running on a SunBlade 100 with Solaris 8.
Compiled from source, tasks and calendar work fine.

You may be out of luck with USB syncing. USB syncing relies on a USB
driver that somehow emulates a serial connection. This driver is
included in Linux as a kernel module, but Solaris 8 doesn't have it. I
doubt that Solaris 9 would, either. Every time a new device comes on
the market, somebody has to update visor.h in the Linux kernel to
recognize it...not the kind of thing Sun would do.

I got my Sony Clie to sync by constructing my own serial cradle. Sony
doesn't sell a serial cradle for the SJ20, but the device will work with
one. The port on the SunBlade is /dev/term/a.
