You probably want to take some quantitative metrics on that before you
rush off and do something, and to find out whether it makes a
difference. BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP ;)

You're probably looking for something along the lines of 

        sudo mount -o bind /actual/location /home/username/evolution

(-o bind aka --bind)
 
But before you do anything RTFM so you don't make a mistake.

Of course, you could always just do the old fashioned

        sudo mount /dev/somepartition /home/username/evolution

Either way, watch the permissions....

[Myself, I'm using reiserfs on all my main partitions, so it's not an
issue ;)]
