Many such things can be address using Evo's Virtual Folders. 

For example, I have one for "All Unread" items, one for "Todays
emails", one for a "Global Inbox" (the sum of about 4 inboxs from various
accounts) and one for all my "Group Emails". 

The more I use virtual folders, the more uses I find for them. I rarely
access stuff directly in the mail-account tree; things are much better
arranged in my V-Folders.

N.B. This is just a "workflow" suggestion; it's not a solution to the
focus-problem.
