I run RedHat 7.1 (updated via RedCarpet) with a Matrox G450 (Aug 22 Matrox drivers); X 4.0.3-5; Gnome 1.4.0; E 0.16.4-7; and Evolution 0.99.2-ximian.3 .. all in xinerama. Mine seems stable. Whether the problem is an X issue, or a Woody issue, I don't know - however it's not an xinerama issue per-sae..
