the SSL/SMTP port is 465, not 25 (and evo knows this, so if you choose SSL and you don't specify a port, evo will auto-magically use 465). Anyways, if your server uses the newer STARTTLS extension rather than an sslwrapper, then Evolution will not work with that SMTP server with SSL. The development version, however, will.
