Hm.  In that case I'm baffled.  I even tried using 'env LANG=C
evolution' to see if it had something to do with the encoding but no
love... so is Mozilla mail my only option? ;)

BTW, what version of Linux/GTK are you running?  I never noticed this
problem on RedHat < 8.0.
