I see this too; this is definitely a bug.  Good catch!  That's not the
only thing about the message addressing system that worked a lot better
in 1.0 :(

Go to bugzilla.ximian.org (read the instructions if you haven't done
that before!) and file it away.  It may have already been reported; try
to search for duplicates first.

That would be great, please file a wishlist bug.  They won't be adding
any new features until after 1.4 comes out, so (if it hasn't already
been done) go file it away so it doesn't get forgotten.

I agree that it's very inconvenient the way it's done now.  It's a
rather obvious complaint, so I wouldn't be surprised if someone else has
already requested it.
