I see the same behavior with RC5 on RH5.2/i386.
I did some reverting, and it appears this commit is the culprit:

So if I take the ofed-1.4 top-of-tree and revert
9e1a4dd600347472829859849168fd3a6f7c597c, things work.
Jeff, did you test this commit? Can you confirm you see this behavior too?
