Hi,

the barcode standards dictate some quiet zone, and for practical real world 
performance reasons our codes expects them, too.
Your pure, generated bitmaps likely do not include a quiet zone.

If the image file can not be read, you most likely have not compiled support 
for the codec. E.g. on macOS missing libtiff, libjpeg, etc.
