In this role the Solutions Architect will create or extend the solution architecture for projects that adhere to the Enterprise Architecture. The Solutions Architect works with and is supported by the Information, Platform, Services and Cloud architecture teams. The candidate will carry out the engagement strategy with product, development and delivery teams. The candidate will enact/enforce strategic standards, policies, best practices, and governance, so the candidate must have deep experience in architecture, engineering, design and development as well as knowing the TEP. Communication and negotiation skills are key to working with various teams to balance meeting commercial goals and architecture goals. A large focus of the Enterprise Architecture team is to reduce technical debt. The candidate must help find workable solutions to meet the needs of the business but is responsible for documenting, communicating, and formulating a plan to work off the technical debt '> Key Qualifications •• Bachelor’s degree (or relevant experience) in one of the computer sciences. • 10 plus years of experience in IT development, design and architecture • TOGAF certification • Up to date knowledge of current technologies and trends • Knowledgeable and experienced in Java Development and its challenges • Ability to address the entire solution stack and not just front-end or back-end minded. • Ability to quickly learn / analyze the solution context and relate the technology decisions to that context • Able to describe solutions and issues to management and technicians who may not be familiar with the subject matter • Demonstrated ability to make strong judgments, work effectively with all levels of clients and IT management and staff, and work at the highest level of all phases of business system design and information delivery technologies required. • Proven ability to manage large, multimillion dollars technology projects including ability to work as a liaison and “go between specialists” to translate EA requirements to product and vice versa required. • Advanced written, verbal and presentation skills to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization. • Travel industry experience in nice to have *Roles and responsibility* • Ensure that assigned projects follow all aspects of the TEP from project initiation to closure • Work with the product, development, and Business Architecture members to define the approach and high level designs for assigned projects • Ensure project designs are aligned with the architectural and business strategies with a clear relation to the end-state design. • Document any variances from standards or end-state designs as technical debt as well as the mitigation path. Communicate how these exceptions must be granted. • Validate detailed solution designs with the delivery teams. • Report and communicate on project assignments and current / forecasted workloads.
