I believe that what our neophyte friend here is referring to, is the
build-up of NDR's in the "Outbound messages awaiting delivery" queue, not
the deluge of NDR notifications that are forwarded to the the Administrator
account.

Going into the setting you described will not keep your 5.5 IMS from
processing NDRs...it will simply quit sending a notification of said NDR in
the Administrator mailbox...it still attempts to process and NDR for each
and every non-existant e-mail address.

We recently had the same problem and fixed it via a new Linux mail relayer
running Postfix. See thread titled "Clogged IMS..." for further details and
solution to the situation.

I am assuming that you are receiving NDR's to what ever account has been set
up as the administrator account. The only reason these emails are being
accepted is due to the NDR acknowledgement. As Andy alluded if you turn off
the NDR for email addresses that could not in the IMS your sever will never
process them. IMS>Internet Mail Tab>Click on notifications and it should be
evident what you need to set.

The second reference was for a way to allow users that do not exist to fall
into a black hole within exchange. This is most appropriate when a user who
at one time existed within exchange but has since left the company and you
would like to have any mail that exchange may be receiving months/years
later simply disappear.

What doyou mean "add the addresses I want to drop?" They addressed to our
domain but to a non-existent user. Thousands of them. Some with name I
couldn't even make up myself.

1. In the IMS, mill around and you will find it. Be sure to restart the IMS.
2. Create a DL with no members. Call it whatever you want. Add the SMTP
addresses you want to drop to that DL.

I am being swamped with Inbound mail failures due to the MyDoom craziness.
Thousands of failures coming through to unknown recipients. Two questions.

How do I turn off Inbound mail notifications?
How do totally deny any mail addressed to a non-existent recipient on our
system i.e. anyone@"mydomain"
