I have been getting messages stuck in our Exchange Servers IMS outbound
queue with the details showing host unreachable.

I set up diagnostics logging and I am getting 501 error messages from the
mail server in question. Personally I can see nothing wrong in the
commands being sent...

>>> EHLO waltons_nt.wamlaw.co.uk
<<< IO: 501 Syntactically invalid EHLO argument(s)
>>> HELO waltons_nt.wamlaw.co.uk
<<< IO: 501 Syntactically invalid HELO argument(s)

I've telneted to the system and attempted the commands and get the same
result. However if I remove the underscore from the server name I do not
get the error.

Is there anyway to overcome this problem? ... at least one that does not
involve renaming our server which I imagine as the sole server here may be
a serious business.

Many thanks
