Subject: Renaming mail server

Win2k Server Exch 2k all service packs
1 domain controller 1 exchange server

Is it merely difficult or downright suicidal to just change the name on
the existing server? Before they ask me to do it, I am trying to gather
information on what would be the best way. Everything I have read
indicates that it is a very bad idea to change the name of your mail
server once it is place. Unfortunately I named my mail server MSEXPKCE.
It made sense to me MS for Microsoft EX for Exchange.
I now have several places rejecting mail from my server because I have
the word S---------E----------X in my mail server name. In fact as I am
writing this I wonder how many content filters are going to bounce this
message. All advice welcome. Thank you for your time Rachel
