I need separate Physical volumes? So it's the same if I put everything on one partition with my current drive configuration?

You need separate *physical* volumes if you want to optimize your server's performance. Simply partitioning your existing RAID5 into logical volumes is not going to buy you anything. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Jose Manzano Sent: Tuesday, March 09, 2004 12:35 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: Hard Drive Comfiguration for exchange server and AD server. I'm sorry I mean the partition configuration for the raid set. I was thinking something along the lines of 3 partitions Just not sure since on 5.5 you would run the Exchange optimizer to move some files (logs files, ect) to other partitions to optimize the server for better performance . And since this server is going to also be a domain controller I wanted to get some feedback on how others have set up the partitions for similar configurations... Thank you!!! -----Original Message----- From: Fyodorov, Andrey FTL [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, March 09, 2004 12:24 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: Hard Drive Comfiguration for exchange server and AD server. Well you already have a RAID5, what else can you do to it? It seems that you only have 3 physical disks. Can't really do too much with that other than a RAID5 or RAID1 + Hotspare. If you had more physical disks, I would suggest to build at least a RAID1 and a RAID5. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Jose Manzano Sent: Tuesday, March 09, 2004 12:16 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: Hard Drive Comfiguration for exchange server and AD server. Hello, I have a Dell server with 72 gigs on raid5. I'm looking to install 2003 AD and exchange 2003 on that server. My question is what is the best configuration for the 75 gig raid set that is going to hold 2003 Active directory and Exchange? Thank you guys !!! _________________________________________________________________ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Web Interface: http://intm-dl.sparklist.com/cgi-bin/lyris.pl?enter=exchange&text_mode=&lang =english To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe via postal mail, please contact us at: Jupitermedia Corp.
