Ed, I'm doubting you or the procedure. Its always worked for me too. However, that is what is happening. I have these 2 events in the system log:
time:02:51:19 eventid:2013 The C: disk is at or near capacity - you may need to delete some files. same again at 03:56:19 Application log shows: time:04:01:15 eventid:9411 MSExchangeMTA field engineering Telling me the service is stopping due to lack of disk space. Have double checked the location of the MTA and its still on: c:\exchsrvr\mtadata\ size is about 3mb Here's the weird thing. 2 days ago i used the procedure to move the IMCdata area and MTAdata area, both move without an issue. However, the Norton antivirus for exchange stopped working so i moved it back to C: So yesterday i tried to move just the MTA area over to a new drive and that's when i had the problem. I will try again, tonight when the users go home. This would be the first time I've heard of what you're describing. Are you sure the files weren't moved? The mtadata directory remains on the old drive, but it should be empty and an mtadata is created on the new drive with the files in it. I installed a new disk and moved the information store using perwiz. No problems. The System partition is 2GB and i have freed up about 200mb giving me a total of 478mb. However, on a daily basis at the moment i have the MTA stopping itself due to disk space concerns. I'm also getting an alert in Event viewer warning me of space issues on the C: I don't understand this as i have freed up more than was there before i took over. I go to move the MTA from its current location (C:\exchsrvr) using perwiz its suggest i leave it on c: ? However, i put in a new drive letter, where there is now loads of space and i let it proceed to move files automatically, but nothing happens, it jump straight over to restarting all the services. any ideas? thanks David _________________________________________________________________ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Web Interface: http://intm-dl.sparklist.com/cgi-bin/lyris.pl?enter=exchange&text_mode=&lang =english To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe via postal mail, please contact us at: Jupitermedia Corp.
