Yes SMTP connector will allow you to specify how your Exchange server should issue the ETRN command to the ISP's mail server.

Here is the basic ETRN stuff: yourdomain.com has two Mxes. Primary MX points to your mail server, secondary MX points to ISP's mail server. For all this to work your server has to be unavailable most of the time (ETRN is usually used with dial-up scenarios). So while your server is not answering, all mail gets sent to the ISP because the secondary MX is pointing there. Mail basically goes there and sits in an on-demand retry queue. When your server connects to the Internet, it shoots an ETRN command to the ISP's mail server, and the ISP's mail server immediately retries mail delivery for yourdomain.com to the primary MX (which is your server). -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Francisco Morais Sent: Friday, March 26, 2004 6:43 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RES: ETRN - Mail on demand Ok. Otherwise you could obtain a third-party product that uses POP3 and downloads messages from all your mailboxes at the ISP and then redistributes mail to the exchange mailboxes. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Francisco Morais Sent: Thursday, March 25, 2004 2:25 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: ETRN - Mail on demand How can I set up Exchange 2000 to send / receive e-mails on demand through my ISP? I use a DSL connection with public IP. I could make it so my server is MX to my domain, but since we don't have an adequate infrastructure I opted for the on demand set up.
