I just don't see how you can ghost an Exchange server for duplication
purposes since the bulk of the Exchange setup is in Active Directory.

Subject: Changing SID?

Hello,

I have an Exchange Box, that I ghosted to another hard drive. I did this,
because I need another duplicate machine - so I can plop it into a testing
environment. Also, the amount of customization and software on the original
machine, was extensive - and doing it this way, will save me many, many
hours of work.

Now I changed the ghosted machine name, etc. so there would not be any name
collisions on the network when I first brought it up on the network, but
when it comes time to join the Domain, and then log into it, I get an error
message. When I look into the Event Logs, it says it's because it already
detected another system with the same SID on the network (which makes total
sense).

Since Ghost is such a tremendously popular method of duplicating machines,
etc. surely there must be a utility out there, that lets you change or
produce new SIDs for machines.

Could anybody point me in the right direction, regarding this topic?

Thanks in advance,

Mike
