He already created two separate SMTP Connectors (one for * address space,
and the other one for specific domain name address space), each one based on
its own SMTP Virtual Server, and each SMTP Virtual Server is bound to its
own IP address. There is only one NIC with two IP addresses.

Messages do leave via separate SMTP Virtual Servers. That's not the problem.
The issue is that ALL the messages are getting queued up in one of the SMTP
Virtual Server queues (I assume the one bound to the primary IP address).
Then messages for all other domain destinations leave but the messages for
that specific domain name are passed internally to the other SMTP Virtual
Server queue and then leave. There is a hop within a server.

I have seen similar behavior with my servers. It never bothered me.

The problem with that would be how to tell the SMTP server that it should
use that NIC/IP to send email. Otherwise, the SMTP server will simply error
out if it uses a different NIC/IP.

Is seems like this is _exactly_ what the SMTP connector is for. Is there any
reason why it wouldn't work in this case?
