STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU DO NOT USE THE SERVER
RULE ON THE MAILBOX TO REPLY TO ALL>>>

<Verbose mode on>

I use a Public Folder:

To have ALL messages received by a "Representative", receive a disclaimer
that is sent from the Public Folder. This is to avoid the bounce problem
that may occur in the "Representatives" mailbox and to ensure that all
messages receive it, unlike the once for the OUT OF OFFICE process.

-Create a Public Folder (PF) of a similar name as the Representative.
-Set SEND AS permissions in the EXCHANGE ADMIN program for the person
setting up the folder.
-Set the DEFAULT permissions to CONTRIBUTOR with no folder visible. (To
allow mail from anyone).
-On the Properties box of the PF select the ADMINISTRATION tab.
-Click the FOLDER ASSISTANT and ADD RULE...
-Set REPLY WITH TEMPLATE (fill out template with reply info)
-Select the ADVANCED button and set to NOT RUN RULE for forms of Reply
type, etc.
-Set Delete (So the PF will clean itself out)
Save
-Create a Hidden Distribution List (DL).
-Make the Hidden DL and ALTERNATE RECIPIENT for the Rep's email.
-Make the Public Folder a member of the Hidden DL.

We use the Exchange 5.5 server.

I really do not suggest using the mailbox...

Auto Replies to the Internet...

Client's Homemade AutoReplyRule Scenerio:
        - Reply to ALL messages Every Time.
        - Personal Outlook Settings:
Request Delivery Receipt for ALL messages
Request Read Receipt for ALL messages
        - Say something like "Thank you for your message"
        - Go on vacation for a few weeks.

Actual Scenerio:
        - Client Receives message from Publication.
        - Send "Thank You for your message"
                request Delivery receipt.
        - Receive back from Publication Server
                NON-DELIVERY Receipt (As requested)
        - Send "Thank you for your message" again.
                Request Delivery receipt
        - Receive back from publication server,
                NON-DELIVERY Receipt (As requested)
        - Send "Thank you for your message" again.
                Request Delivery receipt
        - Continue on until Admin intervenes (Queue
appears to be messed up for some reason)
        - Client on vacation for another week...

Just one scenerio.

I think I found a solution, we have an application that sends mail and
then a reply needs to be sent, I did not know that I could store this rule
on the server

An event sink would do the trick

Is there a way to auto-reply in Outlook without creating an .oft file and
client-only rule. I guess something similar to Out of office that also
forwards to others?
