TAC just told me to turn off fixup SMTP 25. That helped a little and for a while on Thursday afternoon I thought all problems were fixed. Several folks on Friday reported getting calls about "Connection Timed Out" NDR's from folks who were sending us mail. It's possible that those NDRs were from messages that were sent out Thursday morning before I turned off the fixup, but I do not know for sure.

Cisco TAC had me do that about an hour ago. HELO and EHLO both work now, but mail is still taking an inordinately long amount of time to flow to the users. I checked the inbound mail queues too, and nothing is waiting to be delivered. Normally, I can send mail from my Hotmail and Yahoo! Mail accounts and it will arrive within seconds. The last message I sent took 78 minutes to arrive. Simple traceroutes to Yahoo's outbound mail servers did not show any obvious slowdowns along the trace, so I'm lost as to why mail is taking so long to get here....! First of all: Exchange v5.5 SP4 running on Windows 2000 SP4, PIX firwall v6.3.3(133) Inbound mail messages are taking A LONG, LONG TIME to get to the mail server. Telnetting out on the internet to TCP port 25 on my mail server yeilds a valid SMTP banner and HELO commands get their appropriate responses.... Most of the folks on the outside of the world who have problems sending me mail always get "Connection timed out" NDRs. I've been on the phone with Cisco for almost 3 hours and mail still isn't flowing right. Any ideas?
