Hidden mailboxes, maybe? But that seems like a huge difference. The size shown for mailbox size is suspect; numbers often don't agree, but again, your difference is too great. If you're running Enterprise, you could create a new mailbox store and move all the mailboxes to it and see how big the new store is.
