With Antigen content filtering or spam filtering, you can nuke the whole
message. But the virus filtering I believe will just remove infection and
deliver the clean message (how can it know whether it is a good message that
happens to be infected or it is a useless message)

I'm considering Sybari. I'm a fan of layered AV defense, and with 4 engines
you can't get much more layered than that. However, Sybari costs money, and
we don't have much.

Two questions fo Sybari users:
1) Can it do SMTP-time rejection of virus-laden mail?
2) Can it be configured to NOT delivery virus e-mail (McAfee strips the
attachment, but still delivers the useless mail message)?

Can't go wrong with Sybari Antigen.

Subject: Groupshield stability on Exchange 2003

Hi all,

We're current running McAfee Groupshield 5 on our Exchange 5.5 system. It's
been running great for a few years now, but I continue to hear complaints
about Groupshield 6 on Exchange 2003. I'm in the process of completing my
Exchange 2003 migration, and I'm worried about installing McAfee Groupshield
on this box. I don't want it crashing or hosing my store on a regular
basis. Are the reports of these complaints a rare few, or the norm?

FYI, our mail volume is relatively low, handling about 1500 external
messages a day, and an unknown number of internal messages. About 50 on all
days users, 375 total mailboxes most of which are accessed at least once a
day. Store is around 8GB (on 5.5). We front our Exchange server with a
Linux box and ClamAV/SpamAssassin. As such, Groupshield has little to do
these days, since Clam catches everything coming at it. However, with the
new IMF and improvements in the SMTP service over 5.5, I'm considering
taking the Linux box out of the equation to simplify our environment (if I
get hit by a truck, no one here will know how to use the Linux box, or
troubleshoot it).

Thoughts, comments?
