Had the same problem when we were migrating from Ex5.5 to Ex2000. No
idea why it happened to a handful of users.

It seems that some mail was left in the Ex5.5 mailbox and mail was also
being delivered in the Ex5.5 mailbox but the rest of the user's messages
were in the E2K mailbox. We ended up using exmerge in the Ex5.5 mailbox
(you can still connect to it), deleting the mailbox in Ex5.5 and then
importing the messages in the E2k mailbox. If you still have users in
Ex5.5, you might need to set up ADC to synchronize both ways from AD to
the Ex5.5 directory.

Hope this helps.

Subject: Moved mailbox, but something left behind on old server

Hi all, I was doing a mailbox move early this morning from our Exchange
5.5
SP4 server to our new Exchange 2003 SP1 server. During the move of the
biggest mailbox, the user came in and tried to access her mailbox, and
was initially denied access (which I have read will happen). Eventually
she was able to "get in" (her words) but said none of her messages were
there. Went out, then back in, and all her messages were there. In
investigating, she now has a mailbox on both servers. The mailbox on
the original server still has a few (3) messages on it. Those messages
are NOT on the new server.

First, suggestions on how to handle this? Second, how the hell did she
get into her mailbox during the move? The mailbox move wizard said all
moves completely w/ no errors or warnings.

Thanks,
Steven
