All, Win2k SP4, Exchange 2K SP3 post hotfix.
Due to having to wait six days for HP to deliver a RAID controller to one of our sattelite sites!! I am considering restoring the e-mail server (pub and priv IS and Logs) to a different server. The server name is different but if i install Ex2k to the level of service pack on the old server and configure it with all the same settings i.e. same drive letters for store, same connectors etc. I have a current backup (Verita BE V9) and it seems to be fine (I have restored other information from the tape.) So I can restore the IS to the different server. I then believe you can run an exchange program that will forklift the IS into the new config and then run the logs against the database to get it up to date. This will be the first time I have attempted this procedure and would be grateful of any pointers, I have also been told this is not for the faint hearted, is this true?
