I just went through this. We brought up the new server under a new name. Set up new routing groups and left the old server out of that. Deleted the old server in Active Directory waited a few hours and deleted it in ESM. Worked out fine.
I would think bringing it up under the same name would be bad.....old SID's in AD.....all of that mess to deal with.
