What is the need to keep the same name?

I'd like to upgrade my 5.5 server to 2003, but keep the name "ANSON". From
what I gather the way to upgrade onto new equipment is to bring up the new
server and then transfer the mailboxes and public folders (it's a single
server site) from one to the other.
How can I do this and still maintain the same server name for the new
server...? Obviously I can't have two machines with the same name running
simultaneously, and I've always thought renaming an Exchange server was not
possible, or not easy.
