Better to remove the "*" (everything) address space on the Exchange 5.5 IMS to some unroutable domain like clownpenis.fart [1]. Doing this will prevent no mail except that destined for that domain will be routed through the connector. Do this AFTER you create your Exchange 2000 SMTP Connector to prevent a loss of service. That way, if you have a routing issue, you can change it back easier than having to recreate the IMS.
