No no. I am not wanting to do it either - I just need some convincing
and compelling evidence to present to the right folks. Can you point me
to some links (preferably Microsoft) that recommends against it?

I STRONGLY recommend against it. Microsoft recommends against it. Your
chances of success are small.

You would have to follow this path:

1) Upgrade NT4 to Windows 2000
2) Upgrade Exchange 55 to Exchange 2000
3) Upgrade Exchange 2000 to Exchange 2003
4) Upgrade Windows 2000 to Windows 2003

The chances of it all working, without going through the process at
least a half-dozen times in the lab, are just about zero.

This is no insult to you - it's just that the number of variables are
extremely high.

A swing upgrade is the way to go.

That aliens will come down from space and abduct you for doing an
in-place upgrade from 5.5 to 2000 when you know the latest flavor is
2003.  = :->

Exchange 5.5 sp4 running on nt 4 sp6a. Dual 1.2 ghz processor, 640 megs
of ram (upgraded to 4 gig possibly)

40 gig information store, isinteg and eseutil not run on it.

What are the dangers we could possibly face in an in place exchange 5 5
to 2000 to 2003 upgrade?
