So, I must have went brain dead yesterday. I went in and the only place I could find that listed was in the Advanced part of the delivery tab, where I noticed the FQDN space. I changed that to mail.co.hanover.va.us and applied the change. I then went on to stop the service, it never came back after that. I closed the MMC and opened it back up, the changes were there and the service was stopped but I couldn't make any changes, or even start the service without stopping/starting the exchange services. I had to change it back to the servers FQDN for it to work.
I know it's not a big deal, I would just rather the server was using it's external name on the outside of our network. I ran a DNS Report today and came back with a warning that said that our mail server was setup wrong. Here is the text of what I got back: WARNING: One or more of your mailservers may be claiming to be a host other than what it really is (the SMTP greeting should be a 3-digit code, followed by a space or a dash, then the host name). This probably won't cause any harm, but may be a technical violation of RFC821 4.3 (and RFC2821 4.3.1). mail.co.hanover.va.us claims to be host hms01.hanover.gov. So the question that I can't seem to find today is how do I have my server answer as mail.co.hanover.va.us to the outside?
