We now use ISA's FBA rather than the FE's FBA. One thing I noticed, and
it's more down to habits than anything else, is that when I now hit
browser refresh, I get logged off from OWA. ISA 2000 didn't do this,
but 2004 does when used with FBA. Instead of hitting browser refresh,
you now need to click the 'check for new messages' button in the OWA
pane. It's all part of ISA 2004's new security features.

And yes, ISA can also inspect packet contents with URLScan, etc. It's a
good solution.

Does anyone else use OWA on a stand alone ISA 2004 server that is not
configured as a Firewall. I am planning on just using ISA to publish
OWA.

We have Checkpoint firewalls and currently we redirect from Checkpoint
to OWA.

My understanding of publishing OWA through ISA is that I can publish
form based authentication directly from the ISA box, the communication
between ISA and FE OWA would be SSL only with a certificate agreement.
And I think that ISA understand OWA and is able to act as an external
URL scan type function.

It seems ISA as a standalone offers security improvements but most
implementations are with ISA as a firewall.

Experiences always appreciated.

Nathan
