It better because that's a really crappy solution from Symantec.

Many thanks to all who responded re: disabling VSAPI before running backups.
As it turned out, my test backup that I did yesterday completed
successfully. This is with Backup Exec 9.1, E2K3SP1 (hence, VSAPI 2.5), and
SMSMSE 4.5. And, while the backup was running, I sent 20 meg or so of email
messages to the server, including 4 instances of the Eicar test virus. So,
I'm reasonably confident that all will work just fine.
