Although I'm not a fan of Symantec, my company is using symantec 4.5 for exchange on E2K3, backing up with Syncsort (don't ask). My point being, we don't have to disable VSAPI during backups and they work fine. By the way, Symantec is a pretty crappy product compared to Antigen (IMHO) but the Central console is great.
