All, MS Win2K SP4 w/ hot fixes, EX2K SP3 w/ hot fixes, Backup Exec v 9.0.
I have recover deleted items set for our public folders here set to 30 days. We have experienced the following message when trying to recover a deleted folder that were migrated from Exchange 5.5 > Exch2K. "Outlook was unable to recover some or all of the items in the folder. Make sure you have the required permissions to recover items in this folder and try again. If the problem persists contact your system administrator." Now I checked my account permissions and they all seemed in order, so I googled the following work around. Log in to the users account who deleted the public folder via Outlook Web Access http://webmail.orgname.com Then go to: http://webmail.orgname.com/nameofparentfolder/?cmd=showdeleted Click on recover button. This has worked for us on many occasions, until yesterday that is. We followed the procedure to the letter and the folder hasn't been restored, also it is no longer showing via Outlook Web Access and there is nothing in any of the event logs, the folder has just disappeared. My question is, is there anywhere else I can try and recover this folder from and if so where/how. If this is not possible will I be able to? - 1. Backup my current PF store. 2. Delete it. 3. Restore entire PF store from online backup previous to deletion. 4. Archive the folder in question to *.PST 5. Delete the recovered PF store. 6. Restore original store and restore deleted PF from archive. I would be grateful of any advice/gotchas in this situation as I would rather not have to restore the entire PF store if I do not have to and I do not have the capacity to set up another Exchange server to restore to so I hope the method above will work.
