There's little excuse for not backing your Exchange server. Easily done with USB/firewire HDs, and they're getting dirt cheap these days. Even if you can only afford one (think around $100-125) and can't take it offsite, think how many hours of labor it takes to resolve problems like this to well pay for the external drive. Hint, the answer is not many.

I didn't do it. I think my boss ran eseutil with the "detect and repair" options. 2B) No... Unfortunately, we don't back up our Exchange server. It would make things much easier, but we don't really have the hardware to back up 30+ gigs of drivespace. 3) First error message is "Can't open this item" and the second one (when you try to delete the "bad" message) says "the item could not be deleted. It was either moved or already deleted, or access was denied." 4) Could very well be corrupted logs. Another thing... I logged into the mailbox of one of the users (via OWA) complaining and his "inbox" view states "Unable to render this view" -----Original Message----- From: Geni [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, February 16, 2005 3:47 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: re: Outlook problems after rebuilding server 1. What version of Exchange, running on what OS? 2. Which eseutil options did you run? (and do you not have a good backup that you could restore from instead?) 3. How do you know it's corrupted messages causing the problems? 4. What are the symptoms telling you it's a corrupted message, and what type of message (dirsync, stuck in MTA queue, SMTP stops, etc.)? Is it actually corrupted messages, or corrupted logs? Depending on your version and symptoms, someone should be able to point you in the right direction. _________________________________________________________________ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Web Interface: http://intm-dl.sparklist.com/read/?forum=exchange To subscribe: http://e-newsletters.internet.com/discussionlists.html/ To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe via postal mail, please contact us at: Jupitermedia Corp.
