10,000 users and we are doing fine with PST files on the network. Make
sure your network is solid, ensure that the volumes that they are on are
not compressed (though this only slows the access down due to
decompression.) PST files kept locally is an invitation for local drive
failure and very upset users > supervisor > manager > director > your
ass

Open file agent on your backup program????

PST files on network drives are not supported by MS. It's that simple.

Subject: PSTs keep on getting corrupted

Hi all,

I got a call from one of my colleagues in a remote location. He says
that his users keep on getting corrupted PSTs.

At that location, they use PSTs as the primary delivery point and these
PSTs are kept on a file server. I know this is a terrible setup, but it
is beyond my powers to make them change their ways, although I let them
know that what they were doing was not right.

They never had any problems before, the corruption started occurring
just this Monday.

Me thinks that this corruption may be caused by antivirus or a backup
program or by a disk error on the server.

Maybe someone here could suggest any other ideas?
