Many thanks, Ed, for replying. This is a thorny problem, indeed, for me at least.

The DL I just created today, following these steps, works when you send mail to it, whereas last week it groups I created using the same steps did not. But, none of these new groups appear in the Global Address List. It only appears if you look at All Groups. So, I'd like to get it to appear in the Global Address List, just like all the other groups I've defined months ago. 1. I go into Active Directory Users and Computers, right-click on the Groups object where we keep all our new groups, and select "New Group." 2. The "New Object - Group" dialogue box pops up. The radio buttons are pre-selected on Global and Security. I change those to Universal and Distribution. 3. Under "Group Name" I type "LarrysNewGroup" 4. "LarrysNewGroup" appears also in the "Group name (pre-Windows 2000) field. 5. I click Next. 6. "Create an Exchange e-mail address" is already selected. I leave it alone. The alias is "LarrysNewGroup" The associated Administrative Group is LCMS/OISTEST. I change this to LCMS/STL because that's where the production Exchange server is located. 7. I click Next. 8. The next dialogue box says: Create in: stldomain.ct.local/CT/Groups When you click Finish, the following object will be created: Full name: LarrysNewGroup 9. I click Finish. The dialogue box goes away, and my new group appears at the bottom of the list. 10. I get properties on "LarrysNewGroup" 11. Under the "Members" tab, I add my own user, Larry Wahlers. I also add another user, Alan. 12. I click "Apply" and "OK" 13. I wait 15 minutes. 14. I go to Outlook 2003 (cached mode) and download the Global Address Book again. 15. I go into a new message, click on To: and look down the Global Address List for my new group. It isn't there. 16. I change the upper right drop down box from "Show names from the Global Address List" to "Show names from All Groups." LarrysNewGroup is there, so I select it, and put it into the To: field. 17. I click OK, give the message a subject, a short body like "This is a test," and send it. 18. The message shows up, today at least, in both my mailbox and Alan's. Last week, two similar groups I created did not work at all. I doubt either of us can figure out why it didn't work last week. But, at least, I'd like to know how to get these groups in the GAL like before. Thanks ever so much for your assistance, Ed, and anyone else who has any ideas. ==================================== Larry Wahlers Concordia Technologies The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod _________________________________________________________________ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Web Interface: http://intm-dl.sparklist.com/read/?forum=exchange To subscribe: http://e-newsletters.internet.com/discussionlists.html/ To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe via postal mail, please contact us at: Jupitermedia Corp.
