He'll need 110% of the actual database size, not the size on disk.

The queue.dat is the working queue file. If you delete it, it will be
re-created after restarting the IMS.

I believe eseutil makes a full copy of your .edb's before it does any
work on them, so yes, if your current priv.edb is 10gigs, you need
10gigs of space free.

On my old server, I had the same problem you did with space, so I'd just
copy the .EDBs off to another server with more space and run it there.
Nothing says you have to run it on the exchange server.

Subject: Eseutil usage with restricted disk space & \imcdata\queue.*
files

I have a 5.5 sp4 server with a priv.edb of about 10 Gb and a pub.edb of
about 475 Mb. Unfortunately I have only a disk size of 16 Gb of which
only just over 3 Gb is free at present.

I am making more space available but the question is this.

For Eseutil to work I am supposed to have at least the database size
available. However if I have drastically culled the mailboxes will it
actually need the full 10gb?

Furthermore if I add up the sizes of the mailbox resources (Total K +
Deleted Items K) I get 4,903,771. This I assume should be the
approximate size of the priv.edb if compacted.

If I can free up about 5Gb should this be enough to run Eseutil
successfully to compact the database?

I've also noticed that I have two files in the imcdata folder named
queue.bad and queue.dat both 2000KB in size and having date stamps from
Mar 2002 and Oct 2003 respectively. Can I delete these?

Thanks

Mike
