Kewl... That's what I figured. I think I'll push to have a Gig-e card put in
both the fileserver and the Exchange server. At least that would speed the
transfer of data... 

Thanks for helping! This whole thing got partially dumped in my lap awhile
back when they fired the guy who had been managing the Exchange servers,
then the boss quit to go on to "bigger, more exciting" things... and it all
got dumped on me... :-)

You can do the NTbackup-to-file on any server in the enterprise that's able
to access the Exchange server.  You don't have to actually run it on the
Exchange server itself.  Obviously, it'll be faster if you don't run it
across a WAN link, but you can do that too if you have to.
