But I believe that bug only manifested if the message was transferred from
one Exchange server to the other, because otherwise, Exchange would have
reformatted the MAPI message to SMTP, which would have stripped off the
other BCC users.

I seem to remember of such a bug with Exchange 5.x (don't remember if it was
5.0 or 5.5), were bcc recipients were exposed, but that was several years
ago and was fixed by a hotfix/SP.

Is the Exchange 5.5 of your correspondent updated with latest SP?

I received a copy of the original sent mail, and saw only that it was from
him to him, so I presume my name had to be in the bcc line. This guy is
actually fairly computer savvy, for an exec, so I'm pretty sure he did it
right. 

We're on Exchange 2003, and the person that replied is on Exchange 5.5,
which is when the bcc recipients were exposed, but I can't imagine that had
anything to do with it.
