Domainprep multiple times is fine. Lack of a GC? Not good. Why not
promote a DC to a GC and run domainprep again?

Subject: RE: OWA to different domain

In the category of grasping at straws once again, here are two more
things to consider in all this.

1. It is entirely likely that I ran domainprep in this second domain
twice. Would that have caused problems, as in, created duplicate objects
in AD? I've looked around in ADUC, but I don't see any duplicated
objects in the domain, but:

2. I'm getting a rash of Event ID 8270 errors in the application log:
Source: MSExchangeAL
Category: LDAP Operations
Type: Error

LDAP returned the error [20] No Such Object when importing the
transaction
dn: <SID=0102000000000005200000002A020000>
changetype: Modify
member:add:<GUID=E9F54B80-1C33-48B1-AE1A-68C479C1E286>
-
 DC=lhmnet,DC=ct,DC=local

http://www.microsoft.com/contentredirect.asp.

So, I click on the link, and it gives me this for User Action:

"Check for related events preceding or succeeding this event for
information about which object is being acted on. Based on the error
message, look for permissions problems, missing objects in Active
Directory, duplicate objects in Active Directory, and so on. Ensure that
the Exchange Domain Servers and Exchange Enterprise Servers groups are
present in the Users container in Active Directory."

One of the reasons I might have run DomainPrep a seond time is, a year
or so ago when I installed my first Exchange 2003 server, I remember
running DomainPrep while terminal serviced into a computer with the
Exchange CD in a shared drive on another computer. It didn't seem to
install correctly, and I ended up bothering this group with questions
until somebody suggested a fix. I was concerned that I might have
initially run DomainPrep in this second domain in the same way, so I
re-ran it from the actual server with the CD in its drive, to be sure it
installed correctly. But, I might have screwed things up.

Did I mess things up by running DomainPrep twice? Is there any
relationship between the error messages I'm getting and:

1. The lack of a GC in that domain, or
2. Running DomainPrep twice in that domain?
